This year marks the 50th anniversary of the creation of the Australian Section of the International Commission of Jurists (ASICJ). In honour of this auspicious occasion the ASICJ hosted a dinner following its monthly Council meeting on 20 March 2009. The ASICJ was honoured to have Baroness Caroline Cox, Chief Executive Officer of the United Kingdom’s Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust (HART) and former Deputy Speaker of Britain’s House of Lords attend the meeting and address the dinner.  The ASICJ was also honoured to have The Hon. Justice Michael Kirby AC CMG congratulate the ASICJ on its anniversary.
